A Brief Overview
The Clinical Nurse Supervisor supervises the day-to-day activities of the assigned Area/Program staff. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Assures day-to-day quality of the area/program.
- Maintains and develops a competent, productive, and quality conscious staff by hiring, evaluating performance, counseling, training, issuing corrective action and recommending promotion or discharge of department personnel according to the MH value system. Develops and implements processes through orientation and education to ensure the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved, and demonstrated throughout their employment.
- Ensures that staff maintains compliance with federal, state, local, system, and JCAHO standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ensures that staff provides adequate and concise documentation.
- Assures that the department is quality conscious and follows all risk management policies.
- Plans, develops, and implements activities and programs related to health.
- Establishes effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Participates in local, state, and national conferences.
- Provides Director with accurate account of annual expenses and ensures efficient utilization of program resources.
- Assists with the annual operational expense budget, capital request budget, and human resource utilization plan.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Associate's Degree Nursing- RN
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing- RN
- Bachelor's Degree Public Health
- Bachelor's Degree Healthcare Administration
Work Experience Requirements
- 1-3 years Budgeting
- 1-3 years Public/community nursing or maternal child nursing
- Supervisory or Management
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor American Red Cross
- Registered Nurse Arkansas - Arkansas State Board of Nursing
- Registered Nurse Mississippi - Mississippi Board of Nursing
- Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to assess health and safety needs of students and/or faculty and apply teaching and learning strategies.
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Ability to integrate nursing knowledge and theory into school nursing practices.
- Knowledge of basic principles of research, statistics, data collection, and analysis.
- Computer experience and literacy.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Supervises the clinical in assigned area.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
